    Cathy Miller: Went down to Bikes and Barbers on the Devonport ferry wharf a few days ago looking for a saddle bag/pannier. Had excellent service from Kyle who had ordered the bag in promptly after my query a few days earlier. He also spotted that the rear brakes on my bike needed adjustment and quickly did this at no extra charge. All in all a pleasure to deal with and I will definitely be taking my bike there for its regular service in the future. Highly recommend checking them out if you need a new bike or accessories.

    Jonno Leonard: but now back on the mainland i can't seem to access the Google reviews for Waiheke, so I will leave one here. Very helpful and energetic staff. Keen to please. We initially took a couple of ebikes from the extensive range, but realised we needed to cover more ground than we could pedal, so we swapped them out for a fully electric sit-on scooter. It carried us both without issue and was in excellent condition. Only done 282km. Fantastic to be silent and fume-free, and all hills were dealt with easily. Highly recommended Waiheke transport, sweatless and fun!

    4worldlovers: I’ve ridden this path a number of times, once with my brother Ross and once with my wife Marguerite. The first time was on a Magnum folding e-bike, of all things; while the second time was on a Gepida 1000 ebike, with its refined Bosch motor delivering power so smoothly.

    It’s a lovely ride, that stretches from underneath (yes, literally!) the Panmure-to-Pakuranga bridge, along the water, to Prince Regent Drive in Half Moon Bay. If you leave from the Pakuranga highway end, there’s a small amount of parking under the Lagoon Drive/Pakuranga Highway end of the bridge. The path goes all the way to Prince Regent Drive or, even to Pigeon Mountain Road, if you continue through the Prince Regent Drive Playground and follow the boardwalk path that climbs through the Pigeon Mountain Wetland.

    If you want to go the other way, and you are arriving by car, park on Prince Regent Drive; there’s usually plenty of road-side parking near that playground. From there follow the broad, concrete, shared pedestrian and cycling path towards the Tamaki Estuary. When you arrive at the Pakuranga Sailing Club, the path turns south as you cycle along the Tamaki Estuary passing Farm Cove, Sunnyhills, St Kentigern College and the turn-off to Pakuranga Plaza, heading for the Lagoon Drive end of the ride, by which point the Estuary has become the Tamaki River.

    Faraz Husain: I purchased 2 bikes from TradeMe and being a novice on Mt biking, I thought I'd get some expert opinion on the condition of the bikes from someone before I take them for a ride on the Woodhills. I was welcomed by Rob who took me through, in detail, some of the basic bike health checks and the measures to take to maintain the bike. I learnt how to clean the chain and lubricate it, tune and adjust the disc brakes and gears, and fix minor issues to keep the bike in a healthy shape. He advised me whether I should get the bike serviced or not which I'm sure most novice bikers cannot decide sometimes given that it could cost much. All of this at no cost was a surprise, so make sure you donate to this great team and their initiative.
