EMA is one of New Zealand’s most respected music academies. We teach all genres of music - classical, pop, rock, jazz - on all sorts of instruments to all levels of proficiency.

The Green Room Charitable Trust provides a safe and welcoming environment where teenagers struggling with anxiety and depression or bullying can express themselves through music.

Once a term EMA hosts an open mic night to students who want to showcase what they’ve been working on throughout the term. Having regular performance opportunities is important to us and we host these in house on the last Friday of term.

Eliette’s Music Academy puts on a large Christmas Showcase where all students are welcome to perform items they’ve been working on throughout the year. It’s an incredible weekend and we teachers are always incredibly proud of our students.

Eliette began writing music from the age of 9 and at 17 was placed in the top 50 of the Play It Strange songwriting competition in New Zealand with her song “Believe”.

After high school she attended the Australian Institute of Music. In 2015 she graduated with her Bachelors of Contemporary Performance, majoring in Vocals and released her first EP “Black Kisses”. Later that year she trained with Lynn Kleiner’s Music Rhapsody Programme to teach preschoolers.

In 2016 Eliette opened “Eliette’s Music Academy’ in Auckland and over 4 years has quickly grown to 20+ teachers and hundreds of students.

In 2018 she launched The Green Room Charitable trust - a music programme supporting youth struggling with mental health - which earned her a “Local Hero” award in 2019 from Kiwi Banks' New Zealander of the Year Awards.

EMA Grafton is managed by Nick Douch, drummer of kiwi rock band Ekko Park. They have been a forerunner in the NZ music scene for the past 10 years and have released 3 albums, playing in hundreds of shows throughout New Zealand, Australia, UK and Europe.

In 2017 Nick joined Eliette’s Music Academy teaching drums and band programmes. He has helped grow the academy into the force it has become.

Nick was self taught for the first 8 years of his childhood, building a drum kit from pillows. After graduating high school, he continued his passion for drums at WINTEC, Hamilton, completing a Bachelor of Music.

From the very beginning it was his goal to one day be the drummer in a band, and while now actively doing this, he wants to encourage and inspire young musicians to follow their dreams through EMA.

Graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Auckland; Studied Jazz Performance at Massey University (NZSM); He also holds a G/Diploma in Music Teaching; Being one of the two NZ Examiners of Rockschool UK under AMEB.

In his own teaching, Frank’s focus is on CCM Voice Coaching (Contemporary Commercial Music); Contemporary Guitar/Bass Tutoring & Pop, Rock and Jazz Band Training. However, since starting Frank’s Music School he has brought on other tutors to offer lessons in all the contemporary instruments including Vocal lessons, Guitar lessons, Drums lesson, Bass lessons, Keyboard lessons, Piano lessons, Ukulele lessons, Saxophone lessons, Trumpet lessons, Violin Lessons, as well as Songwriting lessons, Music production lessons & Music Theory lessons etc. at multiple locations throughout the Auckland region.

When you sign up for lessons, you'll work with one of our awesome tutors to develop the skills and techniques you'll need to enjoy the music you want to play. You'll work through different repertoire and test your skills by participating in Rockschool exams. When you're ready, your tutor will encourage you to participate in Band Ensembles.
