4worldlovers: We are located at 50 Dunkirk Rd., Panmure, on Mt. Wellington War Memorial Reserve, next to Marist Rugby. A beautiful location with great views of Tamaki River.

All playing surfaces have recently been resurfaced with artificial turf. We have 5 Tennis courts, 2 full size Futsal pitches, 4 Pop Tennis courts (the only ones in New Zealand!!), 1 Netball practice area and a multi-use leisure court. All sport areas have new floodlights. There is also a well-equipped clubhouse with Table Tennis and other indoor activities.

The club has made a comprehensive change, from being just a Tennis club, we are now a multi-sport facility, focusing on family and community. The decision to include a variety of other sports received considerable support from Auckland Council and the Maungakiekie Local Board. A significant AC facility Partnership Grant, plus grants from other funding agencies, paid for all the upgrade work costing in excess of $350,000.

We have various membership categories (please see the "Registration" section) and hire options (please see the "Venue Hire" section).

The club offers coaching programmes and opportunities for competition in Futsal, Tennis and Pop Tennis, and is always looking to introduce new activities.

We are an Incorporated body, the club year is from 1st of October to 30th of September. Elections are held at the AGM in September.

Both Riverside and Marist Rugby are keen to see Basketball established in the Reserve – both within the Club’s grounds and with hoops in the public area (alongside Marist). Riverside Sports installed senior and junior hoops in the Club’s Leisure Court, recently purchased a free-standing tower with a 3-on-3 area marked out.


Padel is another easy-to-play but exciting racket sport that is quickly gaining momentum, particularly in Europe, South America. It is currently the world's fastest growing sport with 25 million players.


Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal have business interests in the growth of Padel. Nadal uses Padel in his academy.

Interest is gaining quickly in New Zealand and Riverside will be the first club in the country to install a padel court! You will have seen construction and we hope to be finished soon.

We will update you on the progress and when it is ready to play on.

Padel uses the same rackets as Pop Tennis but the main difference is that there will be walls around the court, the short side being glass which is utilised in the game.

The court is smaller, net lower and the Pop Tennis racket is far easier to use than a strung tennis racket. Rules and scoring are similar to regular tennis. Serving is underhand.

Pop Tennis is a very popular sport in the United States, where it is officially regarded as "tennis", being approved and supported by the USTA. See the website http://poptennis.com/

Other countries are now introducing Pop Tennis into tennis clubs, as an easy-to-learn-to-play option for beginners, as a means of developing skills for the larger court.

Many web videos show Pop played as a Doubles game, but Pop is equally a Singles game -see a video below of a pro-level match.

The video below features USTA coach Vahe Assadourian (currently coaches USTA professional players Sam Querry and Steve Johnson) at Riverside Sports January 2019 where he ran a brief clinic to explain why he values Pop Tennis as a tool for teaching Tennis skills - at all levels.

Riverside Sports has 5 artificial grass courts. All courts have floodlights controlled by pay-as-you-go meters. We run organised social activities for all ages and levels of play.

The Club is affiliated to Tennis Auckland and participate in inter-club competitions.
