Peter Gray: The hotel itself worked well for everything I was looking for. I had a ride scheduled 45 minutes away to Piha Beach that never showed up. Instead of having me take a very expensive cab, one of the hotel staff generously drove me in his personal car for gas money! Amazing customer service.
Antonio Dessolis: Rooms not very large and old, but the price is excellent and is consistent with the structure. Located in the central area.

Romane Pezet: , easy to get there on foot. The people working there are very accommodating, after 30 hours of flights, I obviously arrived a little too early to get my room, they obviously let me take my shower and put my things down, etc.

Kitchen offers hot water for tea or instant coffee 24/7, a wonderful tranquil and green terrace... we had such a warm welcome welcome after our 30h flight to New Zealand. Lucile Kopytko: Great hostel, not too crowded, beds are really confortable. It has all the facilities needed and a nice garden. The bad point is that we had only one bathroom for 2 rooms so 10 people which was not enough.

Lorraine Mohr: I've been here in the end of 2019 and when I look back now I can say this was the best place to connect with other travellers from all over the world. I felt welcome from the very first moment there and I made great memories with trips Piha Beach not far from the hostel. I don't know how it is now, but back then we just had one bathroom and one room with just a toilet but that was absolutely fine and it was always clean. We cooked together in the mornings and in the evenings, we got our tasks ro clean up afterwards and just enjoyed each others company. I would recommend this place to every traveller, the new ones to get some good ideas and inspiration what needs to appear on your travel plan and the "old" ones to share their experience and see some people again.
dylan: feels like home. not your average hostel. the owner was incredibly kind and hospitable. if you want to be a part of a community i cannot recommend this place enough.
María Sagardoy: I loved, love and will love Fat Cat Backpackers forever.Marcelo, its owner and manager, is the most wonderful person I have met in my entire life. Always smiling, with good energy, very hardworking.My stay at the hostel was incredible, I was very comfortable, it is a very cozy place where you could never get bored. There are many outdoor spaces and also spaces where you can develop your creativity, including reading, yoga, slacklining and music. They have their own garden. Fat Cat has a shine of its own like I have never seen in all of NZ. Breakfast is included, there is always homemade bread or pancakes, lots of fruits, jams, oatmeal. They also share dinner. I would return thousands of times. I am happy to have stayed here. Thanks for everything!
fabian sagardoy: My daughter stayed for a week at this backpacker hostel. She always tells us about her good experiences and this was one of them. The place is very large, with many outdoor spaces to enjoy the sunny afternoons. They share breakfast and dinners. Very pretty!

Very good for the price!I don't think this place would be for everyone, but if you are chill and want to stay somewhere that feels more like a home then I think you will really enjoy it!

Natalie Pettitt: for approx. 9 months. Really enjoyed my time here, and felt like the price was fair for what you got in return. Room was warm through winter. Kitchen was clean and had everything I needed. Other people living in the complex were friendly but not obtrusive. Sometimes it could get a bit noisy on Friday or Saturday nights but usually quietened down by the time I wanted to sleep. Parking on-site is limited but there is plenty of street parking. The smoking area was near my room so sometimes had to deal with smoke through my window. The property manager Winnie was always very responsive to requests and overall just very easy to deal with.
Jack Vasey: Stayed with my partner in a KDV loft room for around three months. The room was relatively spacious for the location, and the accommodation is located close to St Lukes Mall and a variety of public transport options for getting around the city.The kitchen has a good variety of equipment, space and utility, and the common area is fairly pleasant. It feels safe. Can occasionally be loud, and sound-deadening between apartments can at times be lacking, but it is not notably different from other places that I have stayed, and is just the nature of living in close proximity to others. The noise level is never distractingly excessive.Winnie was really kind and attentive as a property manager, and took complaints seriously. The building is maintained at a high standard. I would recommend.

Wu Danny: Great location with train station and bus stops near by, if you have a car, it also got a pretty big parking lot just in front of the accommodation. Winnie the manager has always been very helpful.
Master Peace: Awesome place to stay, very peaceful and tidy. Very close to train station, mall, supermarket and everything else. Would recommend this place.
Tang Luoli: and laundry. The communal area is cleaned every day and remains well organized. Winne, the property manager is super friendly and helpful. There’s also a mini’library’, a board game section and a vending machine in the communal areal which is very convenient. The tenants are also very quiet. Thanks again.

Rebecca Stewart: Rooms: We had a private room with two twin beds and a private bathroom.It was my first time in a hostel and it was a pleasant experience. The kitchen was very big and allowed for multiple groups to be cooking at once. The staff were very nice.A bit warm in the room but the provided fan helped.Food & drinks: Lots of places to choose from nearby including the international food. court. Gloss to buss stops and lots of shops near by.

Alex J: Very convenient location close to town centre. Reasonably priced. Staff are very helpful and friendly and hostel is well-cleaned and taken care of. Beds are comfortable with curtains and a night light for privacy. Most people who stay are fairly chilled, not lots of loud partying late into the night. Only downside is that the bigger dormitories are near to a noisy street, but I wore earplugs and this was fine.
