Auckland Sea Kayaks: what do users think?

Joe Gamarano: AMAZING!!! Highly recommend. I did the sunset kayak trip to Rangitoto and it was an absolute blast. Huge shout out to our guide Daniel. He made sure we were safe, well fed, and most importantly HAVING FUN. Thanks so much for the amazing evening!

Himanshu Matharu: Loved Kayaking to Motukorea island with chloe and other friends. Will definitely try sunset rangitoto kayak trip soon !

Jenna Wahbeh: Such a fun and unique experience! We had a great time and would definitely recommend

Peter Freeby: Easily my favorite activity we did on our trip! Our guide, Daniel, was the best. We had a group of varying skill levels for our sunset kayak / hike from St. Heilers Beach to Rangitoto Island, and Daniel did a great job keeping everyone together.Once we arrived on Rangitoto, Daniel made us all some coffee and tea while cooking up some steaks for dinner. Everything was delicious and it was a nice post-paddle break to have before the hike up to the summit of the Rangitoto volcano. Daniel told us all about the incredible conservation efforts that have been done on the island to make it a pest free home for many of New Zealand’s native birds, and we enjoyed listening to the sounds of some birds we had never heard before while on our hike. We reached the summit just as the sun was setting and were treated to some beautiful views of the city and channel.Daniel provided us with headlamps for the hike back down to the wharf, and installed some lights on our Kayaks for the paddle back. We made it back to St. Heilers around 22:00, and Daniel was even nice enough to drop us off directly at our hotel. We highly recommend Daniel and Auckland Sea Kayaks to anyone visiting. You’ll have an amazing time with an awesome guide. Will absolutely be back again next time we’re in town.

Jared Alvernaz: Highly knowledgeable guides, fun and safe time on the water!

Robert Richard: Our guide, Daniel, led us on a very fun trip to Rangitoto Island. Before getting out on the water he filled us in on how to paddle as well as some important safety tips. Once on the water he kept an eagle eye for any approaching boats or ferries, and gave us some interesting info on some of the landmarks we were seeing. When we reached the island he cooked us up a hearty meal to refuel us before we headed up to the summit of Rangitoto. During the hike we went at a very comfortable pace, stopping every once in awhile where he pointed out local flora or fauna. On the way up we encountered some particularly chatty Tui which was interesting to listen to. Despite the cloud cover we had an excellent view of the city at sunset with rain storms on either side and some clearer skies just behind the city. The hike down in the dark was a little more difficult, but we took our time and made it safely back to the dock. The paddle back gave us a great view of the city lights was very peaceful and calm. Overall we had a fantastic time. This activity does require a moderate level of fitness. The paddle one way is around 5km or 3 miles and the hike about 5.5km or 3.5 miles round trip. Daniel did an exceptional job, we’d say 11/10, as our guide and his passion for it was very evident. We’d strongly recommend this adventure even if the weather isn’t perfect!

Ashley Hopkins-Pass: We had a fun time on the sunset Kayak Tour with Chloe and Kaitlin. We kayaked from the beach for about one hour 15 minutes to an hour and a half to Rangitoto island in the late afternoon. Then we had a delicious dinner of steak, sweet potato salad, and coleslaw. We then did a hour 15 minute uphill hike to the top of the mountain to see the sunset. then we hiked back down in the dark for about an hour using headlamps. We kayak back in the moonlight for another hour 15 minutes watching the beautiful city lights. It was a great tour, but it was fairly rigorous for us over 60s types. We were tired at the end, but we thought it well worth the effort. Our guides were hard-working and attentive.

Mike Lang: Was a fun trip, leave at 4pm, kayak for about an hour, have a light meal w/coffe of tea, hike up the volcano for sunset, then kayak back at night. Something different. Ferries to Rangitoto are pretty limited, so a nice way to see the island. Eric, the guide was knowledgeable and made an effort to chat with everyone.

Ralf Hemschenherm: Despite the waves and wind, we had a safe, exciting crossing that day. The highlight, however, was the view from the top of the mountain at sunset and the drive back at night!

Holly Carroll: Had a fantastic experience with Daniel! Really appreciated how seriously safety was taken throughout the duration of the tour. Looking forward to another tour when we next come back to NZ.

Samantha Ferguson: Booked Auckland Sea Kayaks while in NZ and it was hands down one of the best kayaks I've been on. Byron was a great tour guide as well as master bbq chef; would definitely do a kayak tour again when I am back in Auckland.

Michelle Edel: We had an amazing tour yesterday by Chloe! We were in a small group. Chloe gave a lot of information about the island Rangitoto and the coast and explains everything about the kayaking. We had a delicious BBQ on the island to and had some time to swim in the sea. We really recommend this activity!

Judy C.: My daughter has been on three Duke of Edinburgh journeys with Auckland Sea Kayaks, and honestly, we've been pretty happy each time. Each journey has been a new experience for my daughter. She has learned kayaking, teamwork, resilience, and how to tackle challenges. If you're considering a Duke of Edinburgh trip for your child, Auckland Sea Kayaks is a good choice.Dave has a great way of handling things, understanding the students and parents, thinking on the other people's position and sorting out any issues. Thank you Dave!

Ashleigh Greenaway: Had the most amazing adventure with Auckland Sea Kayaks today; on their day tour of Motukorea Island!! Could not recommend them highly enough!! Even though the trip departs from Helier’s Bay, they offer free pick up from Auckland Museum which is super convenient for anyone staying in the city centre!! Daniel our tour guide really made this trip, he was friendly, welcoming, kept safety at the forefront at all times and just exuded passion for the outdoors and the sea! His knowledge and experience really shone through! Once we made it to the island, which felt like a private tour it was so secluded, we hiked to the summit!! And before we disembarked, Daniel even had brownies and tea for us to fuel our return journey!! The weather today was meant to be choppy and windy, but even a bit of drizzle didn’t dampen our spirits! Thank you Auckland Sea Kayaks and Daniel for making this such a memorable day on my NZ trip!!

Shane Mallia: Very accommodating to my tight schedule as a cruise passenger. Even dropped me off closer on the way back 😁. An excellent experience on the water, a headwind to Browns Island was challenging but well worth the tailwind on the way back! Highly recommend this for anyone looking to spend a couple of hours on the water!

Blanca Trejo: Incredible experience and a great outdoor adventure. Daniel and Bennett were excellent tour guides and best of all, very knowledgeable about the area and its history. Very well organized tour with all the safety requirements. The grill out was delicious. Totally recommended!
