Shyuan Saw: My husband and I stayed in Fernhill with our newborn for almost 5 months, and we really love it there. A cozy cottage tucked away in its own private little space with loads of greenery, birds and little bunnies running around. What’s more it’s only a 5 min drive to major retail outlets, and intercity bus station. So convenient! Colin & Kirsty were the most accommodating and lovely hosts, constantly checking in on us and providing us with the best comfort. Highly recommended!
Louie Trasporto: This place is a gem, if you want to stay close to the city but don’t like loud noise, you want to experience a cozy atmosphere while basking with the nature? this place is what you’d be looking for, the hospitality i received from Kirsty was amazing, I arrived at 11:45pm close to midnight she still arranged the accommodation for us and made sure that we settled in for our stay.

Vasilii Korolkov: We had a wonderful family stay at this cozy cottage in the woods. The peaceful surroundings and rustic ambiance made it the perfect as our first place in New Zealand. The kids loved exploring the nearby playgrounds, and we enjoyed staying outside the city but very close to all infrastructure. The owner was very responsive and helped with any issue. Steve & Kim Henneker: Fernhill Cottages were a perfect find for us. We sold our house, hadn't brought our next home and needed accommodation for almost 3 months - with a dog! It was great to find something so close to where we previously lived and where we worked, but to be able to have our dog with us was the biggest thing. The cottage we stayed in was perfectly comfortable, with Sky Tv, power and water provided. We had extra's like a BBQ, storage and carport also.Colin and Kirsty are excellent hosts and ensured that we had everything we needed. It's a magical spot and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or recommend it.
Valerie Meyer: Kirsty & Colin made us feel right at home after a long and difficult journey to New Zealand. Our cottage was well equipped, clean, warm and pre-packed with food to see us and our three toddlers through after the jet lag. Our family loved the beautiful setting and the kids really enjoyed the play areas. They are amazing hosts and very accommodating which helped our family of through the transition. Our family highly recommend Fernhill Cottages!
Christina Bayer: We stayed with Colin and Kirsty for 6 months and enjoyed the whole stay very much. They are very friendly and have always been there if we needed any help. The cottages are well furnished and comfortable. The huge green garden with the trampoline and playground was always used and loved by our children. The location is peaceful, quiet and only a few minutes from Albany and Auckland away. We are very thankful to Colin and Kirsty for giving us the first home here in New Zealand, we will always remember them and the nice stay in the cottage. We recommend the cottages very much!

The cottages are very nicely located just to the north of Auckland, well appointed and comfortable. I arrived in winter and the cottage was easily warmed, and most importantly for me, had a really good and powerful shower.The advice and kindness of Colin and Kirsty was first class. Always helpful, easily available for the moments when a new country presents those moments of bemusement to the unwary. My flight landed at an ungodly hour, yet they made their way out to the airport to transport me across Auckland and get settled. They are both a delight.The cottages are not far from Albany with all its cafes and shops, but in the country, so are lovely and quiet, with Riverhead Forest not far.I cannot recommend Fernhill highly enough for anyone who wants a hassle free, serviced and comfortable location to get their bearings when coming to NZ. After 11 weeks, I was sad to leave to move to my permanent home, and I shall treasure that time at Fernhill.Thank you Colin and Kirsty!

Nacquita Kahn: I had the most amazing stay!Piha is a wonderful and relaxing place, with the beach on one side and the forest on the other. Piha Beachstay helps add to the vibe of the surroundings. Flawless facilities with shared bathrooms and cooking facilities. Staff are friendly and accommodating. There is plenty to do within walking distance, including a variety of walks, the beach as well as cafes.I would not hesitate to stay here again!
Hannah: We loved Piha Beachstay, 4 min drive to the beach and the staff were really great! there was an amazing outdoor deck, and tables/chairs and couches inside. It was great to get to talk to the other travelers because people would hang out in the common spaces.Rooms: The rooms were nice, sturdy bunk beds that didn't make a lot of noise. Open air to the deck as well
Hendrike H: The hostel was amazing. It was our only hostel on the trip and me and my 16 year old son both really enjoyed our stay at the Piha Beachstay Accomodation. The garden is big with a wonderful view over forest mountains and a little stream. The inside is very comfortable and clean. More over the kitchen was top. I am very happy that we chose this accomodation and I would do it again.
Hana Ngo: Loved it!! We stayed in a dorm since the double rooms were already booked and I really wanted to stay here. It’s in the lonely planet but it’s definitely still a gem! The awesome big kitchen is perfect to cook and we only stayed two nights but cooked two nights in a row. There’s a cute cat as well!Because we stayed in a dorm it was super easy to meet new people and instantly connected with our roommates. If we ever come back to New Zealand we’d love to stay here and get a few surf classes in. We thought we’d get a few surf classes but we just chilled at the beach. It’s a 15 min walk to the beach but very easy. There’s a track next to the Beachstay which makes it super convenient to explore nature.It’s very clean in the Beachstay and there are a lot of tips and things to do recommendations. They also have games and puzzles, so you’re never bored. They also have chickens, and daily eggs that you can buy for 1 nzd. The fridges and freezer and shelves are really big and although it was fully booked there was plenty of space to stash our groceries.

Michelle Wakefield: . In the lead up, nothing was too much for Barb. Gorgeous studio suite and exceptional attention to detail from Barb at all points leading up to and on the day.
Bright Parker: Was there last weekend and stayed at the Eco Glamping. Barn and Dave were amazing, you'll meet them when they drop off dinner in the evening. Recommend going on the hike to build up an appetite for the outdoor spa. Eco Glamping was very cozy and private, the caravan was very tidy and clean with all the amenities available. Very close to Auckland, so you don't need to travel far for a weekend getaway. Definitely recommend to all! Thank you again Barb and Dave!
Julian Morgan: Warblers retreat was everything we were looking for to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Barb and Dave had attended to every little detail and made us both feel very special. An oasis of peace and tranquility, all within a few minutes of the chaos which can be Auckland. I highly recommend splashing out and treating yourself we have a wonderful memory.

Chelsea Grove: AMAZING!!! Highly recommend. Gorgeous spot tucked away in nature. We thoroughly enjoyed going for a bush walk and seeing all the birds! The food was amazing. Everything was cozy. Homemade elements were spectacular. The attention to detail was out of this world. We loved the outdoor bath, the warm welcome and the beautiful baskets. Very clean and homey.Walkability: Walking tracks are really well kept and the signs with facts and information are great.Food & drinks: Fresh, wholesome and delicious.
Emily Hermon: We were gifted a night at the Cottage as an engagement gift and had an amazing weekend away. The highlights were the delicious cooked meal, freshly made bread, snacks and treats on arrival. The house was warm and cosy, there were books, dvds and games which we used as it was raining. Being amongst nature and watching the Tui’s up close was special. We hope to come again for the full experience!

Ben: My biggest mistake was only staying one night. Will definitely be back for more. We only met Barb, who is a wonderful host, their passion for this property and its surroundings are palpable. It really doesn't matter if it is hot, cold, wet or dry, this is a perfect place to relax. I really could go on but come and figure it out for yourself. We'll be back.
